Using Video on Direct Examination


Advantages of video for presenting witnesses by video even if they are available to attend the trial: Trial Skills, Direct


A large screen in the courtroom is an effective way to present testimony on direct examination as jurors are comfortable with video. Video changes the pace of trial; makes the trial lawyer's task at trial easier. Methods for making video more useful and interesting: composition of the shot used by the video camera; using two cameras; using visuals in the video; focus of the witness when answering questions; good lighting and avoiding glare; appropriate clothing.
